Evaluation
In March 2007, Creative Partnerships evaluated the work done so far on
the IMAGINATOR project. It was found that whilst each school had
approached the project differently, all the teachers involved felt that
it had been of high value both to them and their children. Of
particular note was that it enabled shyer and less able children to
participate in activities with their peer group. This was likewise
noted by the artists during school sessions and often remarked upon by
teaching assistants. Some of the teachers also commented on how its
simplicity of use had built their own confidence with I.T., and given
them access to equipment they would not otherwise have used.
Working with the artist team had not only given teachers access to new
ways of approaching technology driven art projects, but also given them
the opportunity to stand back and observe how their children worked
creatively. It was noted that the creative behaviour of some children
would change when in the teacher's presence.
It was generally felt that a greater period of time with the equipment
would have opened up interesting and more structured approaches to the
Imaginator, and that the potential for use was only partially revealed.
