The IMAGINATOR was brought to eight Coventry schools, with each school
having use of the equipment for one week. Within this week Alex would
spend two days working with staff and children, familiarising them with
the equipment, introducing them to various approach methods and
facilitating the implementation their own ideas. He would be joined on
these days by one or two of the other artists who ran their own
workshops alongside his, working with the children to generate their
own content which was then brought into the IMAGINATOR process. These
took the form of images, sounds and choreography, and the three were
juxtaposed within the installation for the children to create their own
scenarios.
The team always responded individually to each school, and this
resulted in work that whilst superficially similar, was arrived at
through a variety of thought processes and actions.
